Good Friday morning Caps fans. It has been a hectic week over here but hopefully we are nearing a well-deserved weekend.
The Caps had a good start to their time in Utah, beating Real Monarchs 3-0 on Tuesday to continue their brief, yet fruitful, preseason tour.
And that's all she wrote from Salt Lake City this afternoon! The boys start preseason off to a flyer #VWFC 3-0 @RealMonarchs

The result avoided a potentially embarrassing situation of losing to the USL affiliate of the team that is hosting the Caps. The good news is the team pretty well battered the Monarchs (and given Montreal’s loss to a USL League One side later in the week, it wasn’t a bad result).
Piecing together Sarita's reporting and the Real Monarchs twitter feed we can say the Whitecaps won 3-0 and limited the opposition to only 1 shot on target. 2021 Whitecaps better than an MLS reserve team confirmed! #VWFC https://t.co/rgS91IaOn4

The match also included some encouraging signs. Lucas Cavallini hit the ground running with a goal, Ryan Raposo has, by all accounts, turned in another strong preseason showing and the Caps may have even figured out a penalty taker (which is the real question we all have been wondering about).
Reading too much into preseason friendlies is never a good move and the team’s history is littered with teams which got everyone’s sense of hope up during a small sample size. We all are more jaded now, however, and won’t fall for those tricks, right?
The team heads next to Bridgeview, Ill. for a friendly doubleheader against Chicago Fire and Indy Eleven tomorrow and we will have all the coverage your heart could desire.
