Best Vancouver Whitecaps Goal: The Final Four

We are down to the final four combatants for the Best Vancouver Whitecaps goal (in the Major League Soccer era). Will it be someone recent (Adnan or Davies) or someone from the past (Camilo or Hassli). Get your picks in!

SOCCER: JUL 13 MLS - Sporting Kansas City at Vancouver Whitecaps

This is it! We have reached the finale of our little competition. We started with 32 goals and are now down to four. I think we have a great final four, even if a few goals I would like to see didn’t make it. I must say, I was a bit surprised that Ali Adnan beat Blas Perez in the Elite 8. I had penciled in Perez for the finals. We had a bit of a discussion about that and Ali Adnan’s build-up beat out Perez’s moment of brilliance. No surprise, as this is how the contest has been going throughout, but Perez/Adnan was the only close contest, with the other three ending in blowouts.

On to the fun (for me) statistics part of our introduction. I have been keeping track of the margin of victory for our various combatants. Prior to the Elite 8, Davide was in second, having won his first two matchups by a combined 92 votes. Of course, losing by 53 to Davies sort of knocked him out. But, of our final four goal scorers, here is their margin of victory: Adnan: 100, Davies: 116, Camilo: 164, Hassli 117. Looks like Camilo has been the most dominant, but will he beat out Hassli, who has seems to be the favourite to win this contest. Let’s get to the final matchup!

The Final Four

Ali Adnan (May 25th, 2019) vs FC Dallas

Alphonso Davies (July 14th, 2018) vs DC United

Camilo (October 6th, 2013) vs Portland Timbers

Eric Hassli (June 11th, 2011) vs Seattle Sounders
