Six Called Up For International Duty

An international window is just around the corner. Six Whitecaps have been called up by their respective national teams. We summarize all the information for you.

Canada will play their final qualifier, against French Guiana, for the newly formed Concacaf Nations League on March 24th, at BC Place. Four current Vancouver Whitecaps players, and four former Whitecaps were called up by John Herdman. Maxime Crepeau, Derek Cornelius, Doneil Henry, and Russell Teibert will be joined by Alphonso Davies, Sam Adekugbe, Simon Thomas, and David Edgar.

The Whitecaps are lucky this season as they do not play during any international breaks this season, which should make filling holes in central defense a lot more manageable.

In addition to the four Canadians, Inbeom Hwang was called up to Korea’s team for friendlies against Bolivia (March 22nd) and Colombia (March 26th).

Yordy Reyna will also be on international duty in March, playing for Peru against Paraguay (March 22nd) and El Salvador (March 26th).

Like the four Canadians, Hwang and Reyna are not expected to miss any MLS matches.
