Whitecaps Make Godoy Rumour Official

The Vancouver Whitecaps solidified their centre back position, acquiring Argentine Erik Godoy on loan

Paul-Michael Ochoa (Vancouver Whitecaps)

A little over a week ago, Marc Dos Santos confirmed that the Vancouver Whitecaps were putting the final touches on paperwork for two centre backs. Those two rumoured centre backs were Tunisian Jasser Khmiri and Argentine Erik Godoy. Last Friday Khmiri was confirmed while this Friday Godoy was confirmed.

25-year-old Godoy joins the Whitecaps on a one-year loan, with an option to buy, from Club Atletico Colon in Argentina. Godoy will occupy an international roster spot and was acquired using Targeted Allocation Money. Godoy has eight years of professional experience in Argentina’s Superliga, with more than 140 starts, at three clubs, and eight starts in the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores.

At just 25, Godoy is entering his prime and could be a great addition for the Whitecaps.
