Report Card: Whitecaps vs Dallas

MLS: FC Dallas at Vancouver Whitecaps Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Alright, let’s just get this over with.

Stefan Marinovic: 8/10

Couldn’t really fault him on either goal and made some good saves.

Brett Levis: 6/10

An unfortunate night for Levis as he gave away a foul that lead to a goal. He did however do a couple nice things going forward with a key pass and a successful dribble. If only he could avoid injuries.

Kendall Waston: 7/10

Led the team in clearances and blocked shots which is good. However when a 5’6 player manages to win a header to score some questions have to be asked. Mosquera wasn’t Waston’s man but the ball was played into his area.

Doneil Henry: 7/10

Very active defensively with 4 tackles, 5 clearances and 2 blocks. Henry seems to be bouncing back from his disaster against TFC nicely.

Jake Nerwinski: 8/10

Had eight tackles which is already pretty huge but also had two key passes. Nerwinski was excellent on both sides of the ball.

Aly Ghazal: 6/10

Ghazal had a lot of tackles, which is good. His passing was bad and he didn’t do much going forward.

Russel Teibert: 5/10

His passing accuracy was very good and also had a key pass. However he was not very active defensively and lost Mosquera on the first goal.

Alphonso Davies: 9/10

Davies was far and away the best player on the pitch. He completed 10 dribbles, had an assist, drew six fouls, and made two key passes. He struggled a bit defensively but you can’t really blame him for being played out of position. An absolutely dominant performance from the Canadian wonder kid.

Cristian Techera: 5/10

Hit the crossbar at one point. beyond that he was pretty invisible.

Yordy Reyna: 5/10

Made two key passes but showed absolutely zero interest in marking his man on Dallas’ second goal. Thanks to the bit of laziness (as well as a litany of other things in the proceeding months) the Whitecaps probably won’t make the playoffs.

Kei Kamara: 8/10

Scored a goal which is always a big plus for a Whitecaps striker.

Subs:

Nico Mezquida: 3/10

66% passing accuracy, no key passes in 45 minutes. Pretty pathetic for a would be #10

Jordon Mutch: 2/10

Brought on to change the game. He did not.
