It’s been an exciting week in Vancouver Whitecaps land. A flurry of new arrivals and the departure of a fan favourite, added to the excitement of opening day almost being upon us, means there’s been lots to discuss. In the midst of all this i’m sure literally dozens of you have been wondering what the Whitecaps’ loanees were up to last month. Well, fear not friend, i’m here for you.
Heroics From Bustos:
Marco Bustos hasn’t had the best start in Mexico, as he’s struggled to get in the team for Zacatepec. However when his opportunity came he seized it with both hands as he scored the only goal for Los Cañeros in their 1-0 cup win over Murciélagos.
Deybi Flores: International Man of Mystery:
Deybi Flores still hasn’t made an appearance for Motagua since last year. Honestly if I were a new fan I wouldn’t even believe Flores existed.
Spencer Richey Continues to be Pretty Good:
The USL season is also about to get underway and F.C Cincinnati are shaping up to be one of the top teams this year. In preseason action Spencer Richey played 45 minutes and kept a clean sheet against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Played 30 minutes and conceded from a penalty against Indy 11, and played 60 minutes and kept a clean sheet against Northern Kentucky University.
The Various Fresno Players:
Matthew Baldisimo: Registered an Assist in a 3-2 win against Ventura County Fusion, played 67 minutes in a 3-1 loss against L.A Galaxy, and played 90 minutes in a 2-0 win against Fresno Pacific University. Interestingly Baldisimo, who’s generally considered a central midfield player, played entirely at right back, a position he also played occasionally for WFC2.
Cory Brown: The Whitecaps’ 3rd round draft pick and Fresno trialist Played 70 minutes against L.A Galaxy and played 60 minutes against Fresno Pacific University.
Noah Verhoeven: The Residency graduate and Fresno trialist played 40 minutes and almost grabbed a late goal against LA Galaxy.
Terran Campbell: Played 40 minutes against Fresno Pacific University.
Sean Melvin: Played 20 minutes and kept a clean sheet against Fresno Pacific University.
