The Vancouver Whitecaps are lucky to have three great supports groups at every home match that help make BC Place “the best sporting environment in the city”. We decided that it was important to highlight the importance of these supports groups and get their views on what it means to be a supporter. We contacted Vancouver Southsiders (est. 1999), Rain City Brigade (est. 2010), Curva Collective (est. 2011/2012), and the Vancouver Whitecaps Organization to get their takes on some important questions that are faced by many supporters in North American soccer. This week we bring to you each of those interviews* along with several pieces about the challenges faced in being a support of a team. The schedule will be as follows:
Monday: Introduction (CascadiaLion)
Tuesday: Front Office (AtlantisB)
Wednesday: Curva Collective (Edmondk)
Thursday: Southsiders (IanJones) & Fan Bheaviour (CWilkins)
Friday: Rain City Brigade (CascadiaLion) & Balancing Supporters Activity (Andrew Bahl)
*We did request participation from all three supports groups and the Whitecaps front office, however, we did not receive feedback from Rain City Brigade, so their piece will be significantly shorter.
