The Vancouver Whitecaps have transferred Kianz Froese to German side Fortuna Düsseldorf. According to the Whitecaps official press release, as part of the deal, the Whitecaps will get a match played bonus and a percentage of any future transfer fees.

The 20 year old midfielder is a graduate of the Whitecaps Residency Program, but made just 15 appearances for the Whitecaps over two-plus seasons, including two starts. The majority of his playing time last season went to WFC2 in the USL, where he started 21 of his 22 appearances.

"We thank Kianz for his contributions to the club and wish him all the best with Fortuna Düsseldorf," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. "This is a good opportunity for Kianz to continue his development both on and off the pitch. This move will also open a pathway for our young midfield players who are ready to compete for minutes."

Basically, it sounds like the club are more comfortable with the other young options on their roster, and Froese was an odd-man out.

Good luck in Germany, Kianz.
