A report out of Manchester states Manchester United has extended an invitation to Davies to train with them this January, pending approval by the Whitecaps.

The report quotes Paul Stalteri saying, “[Davies is] without a doubt, in my mind, the most talented and probably best Canadian player that we've produced. The sky's the limit for him.”

I don’t know if Stalteri is connected to Man U in a scouting capacity, but it is clear that Alphonso has been noticed abroad. His successful Gold Cup appearances with the CMNT have gone a long way towards that.

This is exciting news for Davies and it would be an exceptional opportunity for him. Imagine, a 17 year-old rubbing shoulders with Pogba and Ibrahimovic. What he would learn and experience in an environment like that would be immense. The ‘Caps would benefit from it on the field when they return to pre-season, and the possible long-term benefit from a possible transfer could be significant. I’m thinking this is a no-brainer for Robinson.

Good on you, Alphonso!
