The Ichiro bobblehead is there just for comparison

About 10 days ago, I was approached by Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, asking if I’d be interested in receiving one to write a review for the readers of this website.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum was founded in 2014 and will be opening up a permanent location soon. They have just released a complete MLS series vintage style bobblehead to go along with the work they’ve done for MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL. All 22 MLS team themed bobbleheads are available now with the LA FC themed bobblehead to be released in May 2018.

While MLS and soccer may not be punching with the big boys (football, baseball and basketball), the fact that this bobblehead lineup has been produced is a pretty good indicator that professional soccer is on the uptick.

As for the Vancouver specific one, as an abstract piece, I’m not a fan, but looking at it from the bigger picture, but having to change more than one aspect of it for each team would be time consuming and potentially very expensive, regardless of how efficient your production team might be.

As you would expect, this piece came very well protected, not only in a plastic shell inside it’s own perfectly fitted packaging, but inside a sturdy shipping box with plenty of brown paper void fill (shipping term for materials to prevent shifting of the product during transport). As someone who works in logistics, and knowing what’s being delivered, I like that the packer has gone to as much effort as they have to ensure I receive a product free from unnecessary damage.

If there’s one thing I could change right now, it would be changing the “Vancouver FC” to “Whitecaps FC” Other than that, given that this is the first MLS bobblehead that I’m aware of, it’s a good start.

Looking at it from a collectible point of view, I would definitely consider buying more than 1, either from the same team or different teams.

Each bobblehead sells for $25USD with shipping to Canada starting at $15. The entire 23 piece set sells for $500 plus shipping.
