Hello Everyone,
Sorry for the delay on getting this up. We wanted to wait until the playoffs concluded for the Vancouver Whitecaps, as to not overshadow those articles. Then we had a few other year-end things to take care of (stay tuned). Now we have a bit of time to talk about our Guess the Starting XI and Final Score contest.
I want to thank everyone for their participation. Over the course of the season, we had 39 people make predictions. While it was known prior to the final match, given the large lead, we congratulate dfree646 for winning the Second Half Final Standings, with a final points total of 194. Second place goes to chuckbiscuits (185), with olikchivas and GreyHouseEffect finishing third with 184 points.
dfree646 joins First Half Final Standings winner Arjon and Non-MLS Final Standings winner AtlantisB. We also had several monthly winners: Arjon (April), jacinto (May), AtlantisB (June), chuckbiscuits (August), and dfree646 (September). Congratulations to everyone!
I have made it clear that I am a big numbers person, so it is no surprise that I broke it all down for those interested. The first table is the Second Half Final Standings. It lists the final points (removing your worst two matches), all points (all 17 matches), your average lineup prediction accuracy, the number of perfect lineups and winners you predicted, your average ‘score’ accuracy, and the number of lineup bonus points you obtained throughout.
The second table has all the same information, but includes all 34 MLS regular season matches.
Once again, thank you to everyone who participated. Let me know your thoughts on the season below and what we should do for next season. We tried out a few monthly scoring contests. Did you have a favourite? Should any make it into the regular rotation or should we save those for monthly contests. Let me know and we will look at improving for next season!
