Whitecaps to spend some of the 2017 preseason in Europe.

With CCL quarterfinals so soon in the new year, Robbo wants his team up to speed right away.

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Whitecaps will play a part of their preseason in Europe as they prepare for the 2017 season. After successfully moving on to the next round of the CONCACAF champions league Coach Robinson wants his team to be up to game speed quicker than in previous seasons in order to be ready for the CCL quarterfinal games in the spring. Robbo wants his players at 60-70% fitness to be playing teams at 100% in mid-season, rather than against other MLS teams also getting into shape.

It is an interesting development. The 'Caps did not get out to a particularly strong start this season and surely the individual motivation for the players to show well in Europe will spur them on. No dates or teams have yet been released.
