The Vancouver Whitecaps have bolstered their Amway Canadian Championship roster ahead of the second leg of their semi-final series with the Ottawa Fury, no doubt looking to avoid a repeat of their lacklustre 2-0 loss last week. The Whitecaps have added Pedro Morales, Matias Laba and David Ousted to their roster of available players for Wednesday's match, while keeping plenty of youth around as well.
The Whitecaps had a roster of 20 for the first leg of the series, and are allowed to have up to 30 overall.
Second Leg Roster
Goalkeepers (3): Marco Carducci, David Ousted, Paolo Tornaghi
Defenders (7): Sam Adekugbe, Fraser Aird, Jordan Harvey, Pa-Modou Kah, Tim Parker, Cole Seiler, Jordan Smith
Midfielders (10): Marco Bustos, Alphonso Davies, Kianz Froese, Andrew Jacobson, Matias Laba, Ben McKendry, Nicolás Mezquida, Pedro Morales, Cristian Techera, Russell Teibert
Strikers (3): Erik Hurtado, Kekuta Manneh, Octavio Rivero
Names of note; The Whitecaps opted to keep 15 year old Alphonso Davies on the roster, as well as 23 year old midfielder Ben McKendry. Clearly Carl Robinson wants to get some meaningful playing minutes for his youngsters, but also wants a more competitive effort out of his bunch. Of course, it remains to be seen just how involved Morales, Laba and Ousted will be in the match, and how much slack he gives the youth.
