Do you think Alphonso Davies has just a little bit of confidence since his call-up to the first team Whitecaps? The 15 year old scored a stellar goal Sunday night, to help Whitecaps FC 2 to a 3-2 victory over the Swope Park Rangers. First off, I'm not going to tease you any longer. Here's the goal.
While Davies no doubt had the goal of the match, it really was Marco Bustos' night. He scored two fiirst half goals to power WFC2 to an early 2-0 lead, before Davies sealed the victory with his blast in the 80th minute. Fresh off some minutes for the Vancouver Whitecaps in their two legged Amway Candian Champion semi-final series against the Ottawa Fury, Davies finished his chance with an exclamation point, and looks like he's ready for a strong second half for his USL club.
The Rangers would make it a contest with late goals from Anthony Gonzalez in the 86th minute and Kris Tyrpak in the 89th, but WFC2 would be able to buckle down after their struggles, emerging as the winners of the contest. Next WFC2 contest is against the Portland Timbers 2 on Sunday at Thunderbird Stadium.
