Whitecaps officials say Kudo is set to miss some time

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Masato Kudo will be heading for surgery after he fractured his jaw in an ugly collision with Chicago Fire Goalkeeper Matt Lampson on Wednesday. Kudo's head slammed off the shoulder of Lampson and onto the turf, and Kudo lay bloodied and motionless on the pitch for what seemed like forever.

Kudo suffered a fractured jaw and is scheduled to undergo surgery. He would like thank all supporters, fans, family, friends, and members of the soccer community for their outpouring of support. The club will continue to provide updates as he progresses in his recovery.

He was taken to Vancouver General Hospital after the match for treatment.

The video is below, although it's not a fun watch.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for Kudo.
