Bolaños Suspended for Next Match

Christian Bolaños has been fined and suspended one game by MLS Disciplinary Committee for a foul during last Sunday's match against the Montreal Impact

Per Marc Weber of The ProvinceChristian Bolaños has been suspended for the Week 2 match against Sporting Kansas City, for a foul on Montreal’s Laurent Ciman in the 62nd minute of last Sunday’s game.

The foul, occurring just outside the Impact’s penalty area, came as Ciman was stepping up to dispossess Bolaños.  Ciman writhed for a bit and Bolaños earned himself a yellow.  From the point of Ciman’s limping return to the pitch, he was met by a smattering of boos by the home crowd which kept up for every touch of the ball.

However, this still photo at the moment of the foul clearly shows studs-to-ankle.  The positive take?  That it wasn’t a straight red, I suppose.

And with that, Bolaños’ second MLS game will have to wait a week and, if I had to make a guess, we may see either Nicolás Mezquida or Kekuta Manneh get their first start of the season.
