The Vancouver Whitecaps have locked up one of their most important players, agreeing to terms with Goalkeeper David Ousted on a multi-year contract extension.
You can find the official media release here. No details on exact contract length or salary amount were released.
It's an important move for Vancouver, as they nail down one of the premier Goalkeeper in Major League Soccer for at least another two seasons. The 31 year old Dane firmly established himself as elite last season, and was arguably the backbone of the entire Whitecaps squad. When they started to unravel offensively, Ousted was there to keep them in matches with his stellar play.
2015 was his coming out party; He finished second in voting for MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, and landed a selection in the all-star game. He's also been known to wear the Captains Armband when Pedro Morales is out of the lineup.
It's been a very good off-season for the Whitecaps, in terms of locking down core members of their squad; Ousted joins Matias Laba and Kendall Waston as players to recently hammer out deals.
Without salary numbers it's impossible to say whether this is a good deal or a great one for Vancouver, but I'm sure every fan is happy to have the Great Dane under contract for a few more seasons.
