The Vancouver Whitecaps season may be over, but Alphonso Davies is still impressing. The youngster scored as Team Canada shut out Jamaica 3-0 in an U-17 friendly match on Saturday. Davies scored the 2-0 goal in the 37th minute; Jordan Faria and Yohan Le Bourhis also added goals on the day. The hype continues for Vancouver’s most prized prospect.
Whitecaps interested in Alston?
According to Vancouver sports reporter Mike Martinago, the Whitecaps are very interested in Right Back Kevin Alston. Martinago tweeted this on Thursday:
Hearing #WhitecapsFC are very interested in free agent RB Kevin Alston (was let go by Orlando yesterday). #MLS

The right back position is an obvious thin area on the Whitecaps depth chart, with Fraser Aird likely not to return, and Jordan Smith failing to impress when he received some playing time. The 28 year old American is an 8 year MLS veteran, and started 21 matches for Orlando City in 2016.
Forget about Keane
Here’s one you probably already knew; According to Marc Weber of The Province, the ‘Caps will not be the landing spot for Robbie Keane.
We can put the Keane-to-Whitecaps speculation to rest, I'm told. #vwfc #mls

Given the turf at BC Place and the price-tag Keane will command, this is not surprising.
