WFC2 Defeat OKC 3-2, Move on to Western Conference Final

Daniel Haber was the hero, as WFC2 continue their remarkable bounce back season

The Vancouver Whitecaps USL affiliate are moving on in the post-season, thanks to a last minute, 3-2 victory over the Oklahoma City Energy FC on Saturday.

Whitecaps FC 2 got goals from Kianz Froese, Kyle Grieg and Daniel Haber in the victory, and will now move on to the Western Conference Final. They’ll take on the winner of Sunday afternoon's match between Swope Park Rangers and Orange County Blues FC.

Vancouver started things off on the right foot, with Froese opening the scoring at 27 minutes.

The ‘Caps would double the lead in the second half, with the Captain showing off some nice finish in the 48th minute.

The match was far from locked up however, as Oklahoma City began to fight back and turn the tide. In the 60th minute, Danni Koning pulled OKC to within one. A few moments later, Timo Pitter shocked Vancouver by scoring the equalizer.

It looked like the wind had been taken out of the Whitecaps sails, but the youngsters had something else up their sleeve. With literally moments remaining in regulation, Daniel Haber scored to make it 3-2 Vancouver, clinching the match and sending the ‘Caps through to the next round.

At least one Vancouver soccer squad has risen to the occasion. Congratulations to the club, and good luck next week.
