Marc Weber is now reporting the Whitecaps have added Blas Perez, and he will join the team in Tucson on Wednesday. No official word from the club yet, but Weber is usually as good as gold when it comes to Whitecaps rumors. I'd say get used to the idea of Blas Perez in a Whitecaps kit.

"Blas Perez travels today to Canada to join the Whitecaps from MLS"
I'm sure you all have mixed feelings about this.

Carl Robinson has made it clear he wants to add to the Vancouver Whitecaps for the upcoming season, and an intriguing name that has been popping up in the rumor mills recently is former FC Dallas forward, and noted pest, Blas Perez.

Perez is an interesting case. He's 34 years old and battled injury during his last season with FC Dallas, starting just 14 contests and scoring five goals. However, before that campaign, Perez was a back to back 11 goal scorer, and lead FC Dallas in scoring for three straight seasons. If last year really can be blamed on injury, Perez would seem to have plenty of gas left in the tank. Plus, it's not like the Whitecaps have too many veterans at the position, with Erik Hurtado, Darren Mattocks, and Kekuta Manneh among the youngsters at the position. If Robinson can ink him to a short term, relatively low-risk deal, it really couldn't hurt.
However,it's not like Perez is exactly a fan favorite in Vancouver, or for that matter, anywhere except Dallas. He's known in the league as a pest, a role he seems to relish. There's actually a really cool MLS insider video that takes a deeper look at that.
In other Whitecaps roster-related news, a report from WhitecapsFC.com shows Carl Robinson is still very much on the lookout for a right back. The choice quote there;
We're still working towards it," he told reporters. "We're still in contact with the other club to try and get it over the line. Hopefully we will in the next day or so. If not, we're going to have to move on."
What do you think? Would Perez be a good fit in Vancouver?
