The Vancouver Whitecaps could be on the verge of another shrewd signing, with a report out of Scotland saying the Caps are interested in a loan deal for Fraser Aird from Glasgow Rangers. The young Scottish-Canadian recently made the decision to play as a Canadian international and thus wouldn't take up another international spot. Pete Schaad added fuel to the flames this morning, first with this tweet:
If they get Fraser Aird on loan, @Whitecaps will have created competition at RB & more intrigue this off season. pic.twitter.com/qvyihOlpai

And then by proclaiming to doubters that the deal was in the "Paperwork stage" and that this is the deal Robbo has been working on since the draft.
Interestingly, the move for Aird would likely cement Jordan Smith's place as starting right-back, as Aird is the much less experienced of the two. However, Aird's ability to play as a winger could see him used more flexibly up the flanks.
