Kekuta Manneh Suspended

The young Gambian has picked up a fine and a one game suspension for serious foul play

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

It seems that Aurelien Collin wasn't the only one upset with the 65th minute sliding challenge by Kekuta Manneh. The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued the Vancouver Whitecaps winger a one-game suspension and fined him an undisclosed amount for Saturday's horror-tackle. The decision will come as little surprise to anyone who watched the play. Frankly, Manneh was lucky not to be given a straight red.

Carl Robinson stated mid-week that he'd talked to Manneh about the tackle and warned him to be more careful. Hopefully, Manneh's two footed lunge was an accidental anomaly from an otherwise even-tempered player. The only real good news to come from this situation is the fact that Kianz Froese and Erik Hurtado are almost guaranteed minutes against the Portland Timbers this weekend.
