It may not have been their prettiest victory, but the Vancouver Whitecaps are getting some serious recognition for their 1-0 victory over Orlando City FC over the weekend.
Three Whitecaps have been named to the MLS Team of the Week, including DM Matias Laba, CB Kendall Waston and striker Octavio Rivero. Rivero is a bit of a no-brainer, as the Uruguayan won the match for the 'Caps with his stoppage time header.
Rivero has scored in the first three MLS matches of the season; Imagine what he could do if Pedro Morales was firing on all cylinders.
Matias Laba was his usual stellar defensive self, with 5 interceptions and 5 tackles on the night, while Kendall Waston helped him out in silencing Kaka for most of the night.
Again, not the prettiest victory, but great to see the Whitecaps recognized for their hard work.
ATLANTISB UPDATE: Rivero's goal has also been nominated for goal of the week. In my opinion, he should easily run away with it, if you all vote. The rest of the nominees and the ability to vote can be found here
