This morning the Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signings of GK Spencer Richey (22), D Craig Nitti (23) and F Mackenzie Pridham (24) to the WFC2 roster.
"We’re very pleased to add three MLS SuperDraft picks to our USL roster. Spencer is a smart, driven goalkeeper, Craig is a tough central defender, and Mackenzie is a natural goalscorer. We look forward to seeing each of them continue to progress."
~Alan Koch, WFC Head Coach
Richey, a native of Seattle, WA, backed the UW Huskies to back-to-back NCAA Sweet 16 appearances over the past two seasons. Richey made a total of 71 appearances during his time with the Huskies, with 30 clean sheets to his name.
Richey also spent a time with the Portland Timbers USL PDL team and has been capped for the USA at the U-20 and U-17 and participated in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Nitti started 59 matches during a four-year career with the Layola Marymount University Lions. Nitti's leadership at the center of the LMU backline contributed to 9 clean sheets and just 4 goals conceded over the course of the entire season. Nitti's performances in 2014 earned him a second straight honor of being named to the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-Far West Region Team.
During his time at LMU Nitti scored 11 goals and had 4 assists. In addition, Nitti made 10 appearances for the Timbers USL PDL squad in 2013.
Finally, Pridham, who has already made his professional soccer debut for the NASL Minnesota United FC in 2014, is California Polytechnic State University's all-time leading scorer with 27 goals, and was also Cal Poly's leading scorer in 2012 and 2013.
The Toronto, ON native also represented Canada at the U-17 and U-20 levels and saw playing time at the 2007 Chivas Cup in Guadalajara, México.
All three players were drafted by the Whitecaps in the MLS SuperDraft with Pridham being selected in the fourth round (58th overall) in 2014 and Richey (3rd round - 61st overall) and Nitti (4th round - 72nd overall) in 2015.
