After a youthful Vancouver Whitecaps lineup fell to the Portland Timbers USL affiliate, the Timbers 2, on Saturday, a more seasoned lineup is expected when the Whitecaps square off with the Timbers in pre-season action.
The Whitecaps are taking part in the 2015 SImple Invitational, a tournament they dominated in 2014. Back then it was known as the Rose City Invitational, and the Whitecaps went undefeated.
The game kicks off at 5 pm, and you can catch the live stream here.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for Center Back Pa Modou Kah, who spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Timbers and established himself as a fan favorite. It will also be another chance to take a look at the Whitecaps attack, by far the biggest question mark going into the regular season.
The Whitecaps also announced a pair of Colombian trialists have joined the club for the time being, Harold Gomez and Ruben Anchico.
Gomez, 22, is primarily a right back, but Pert said he can also play left back and "do a job" in defensive midfield. Anchico, meanwhile, is a 20-year-old right-winger, who can also play on the left.
The piece also says Assistant Coach Martin Pert discovered the pair on a scouting trip, and that they came through the Deportivo Cali Youth System. They're likely candidates for WFC 2.
