Carl Robinson, David Ousted, Kendall Waston Nominated for MLS Awards

Three Whitecaps have been named as nominees in the various MLS End of Year Awards.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are well represented in the nominations for the year end MLS awards, as the nominees were revealed Tuesday.

First up, skipper Carl Robinson. Robinson has been nominated for Coach of the Year, and he'll be facing off against Jesse Marsch of the New York Red Bulls, and Oscar Pareja of FC Dallas. The winner will be announced on November 24th. I think Robinson is well deserving of the nomination, especially considering the 'Caps were able to grab 2nd in the West despite their numerous injuries. Hopefully the result goes his way.

Kendall Waston has earned a nomination for MLS Defender of the Year, along with Laurent Ciman of the Montreal Impact and Matt Hedges from FC Dallas. The winner there will be revealed on November 11th. Waston is well known as one of the best defenders in MLS, and has already snagged the Whitecaps team MVP award. He is probably the least surprising entry on the list, but obviously a great candidate to take the hardware home.

Finally, David Ousted got a nod in the Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, along with Bill Hamid of D.C. United, and Luis Robles of the Red Bulls. The winner is set to be announced on November 19th. Ousted was my pick for Team MVP, and I think he's the biggest reason the Whitecaps made the playoffs this season. He tied for the league lead in shutouts (13), and also compiled 1.06 GAA, playing every minute of the 2015 regular season.
