VANCOUVER, BC - the Vancouver Whitecaps' 2015 season ended two short weeks ago, but manager Carl Robinson has wasted no time preparing for next year.
Last week came the first announcement that many fans had been waiting for when midfielder Matías Laba re-signed with the 'Caps, but today "bigger" news broke that the Towering Tico Kendall Waston has also signed a "multi-year" extension with the club.
With Laba, Waston, and Pedro Morales already under contract for next season and beyond, Robinson has shown a proactive approach in keeping the core of his team intact.
"Kendall is an important building block in what we're trying to accomplish at this club," said Robinson. "His passion, physical presence, and ability to come up big in crucial situations have been instrumental to our success. He's a leader on the pitch and in the locker room, and we're excited to have arguably the best centre back in the league during the prime of his career."
While the length and terms of player's contracts are not made public, it is widely believed that goalkeeper David Ousted is the next player Robbo will try to sign to a new contract with the Whitecaps.
"I'm very proud to be part of Whitecaps FC," Waston told reporters. "I'm thankful to the city, club, and fans for embracing me and my family. I look forward to helping the team bring even more success to Vancouver."
