Luis Robles Named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Ousted in Second

It was close, but no cigar for David Ousted

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Vancouver Whitecaps are officially 0 for 2 at the MLS awards. David Ousted came in second in voting for MLS Goalkeeper of the year, losing to Luis Robles of the New York Red Bulls. Ousted garnered a weighted total of 74.26 compared to Robles at 84.12.

It shouldn't lessen the amazing season Ousted had, where he firmly established himself among the elite Goalkeepers in the league. He was a four time MLS Save of the Week winner, and was named the MLS player of the month for June, the only Goalkeeper to win the award this season.

The Whitecaps also had Kendall Waston nominated for Defender of the Year, but he lost that award to Laurent Ciman of the Montreal Impact.

Carl Robinson is now the Whitecaps final hope to grab some hardware, as Robinson has been named a nominee for Coach of the Year. He'll learn his fate on November 24th, when the winner is announced.
