A complete list of MLS Player salaries has been released, updating the list that was put out in April. Since then, the Whitecaps have bid farewell to Nigel Reo-Coker, Jay Demerit and Kenny Miller, and welcomed Kendall Waston and Mauro Rosales.
First up, Waston is making some decent coin this season, bringing home $201,242.00 in guaranteed compensation. Interestingly enough, that's more than Jordan Harvey ($123,750) and Steven Beitashour ($177,166.67). It's been a small sample size to be sure, but if Waston can continue to play like he has, I think hes' worth every penny. I love his size, he gives the 'Caps an added dimension for set pieces, and after a bit of a rough start, it seems like he's adapted well to MLS. I mean, I'm a huge Jay Demerit fan, but I'd much rather have Waston at just a little over $200,000 than Jay Demerit at just a little under $250,000.
Nigel Reo-Coker was making $446,500 this season, and he was dealt to Chivas USA for Mauro Rosales and his $450,000 salary. I don't think anyone is going to complain about that one.
Other than that, the greatest mystery on the payroll continues to be how Omar Salgado tricked somebody into giving him over $140,000. Go figure.
