The Best Whitecaps Goal of the Season?

Yes, it's still early in the MLS season, but Erik Hurtado has set the bar pretty damn high after his wonder goal against Seattle.

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going to start off by apologizing to the young Erik Hurtado. We've been rough on the kid because he didn't look as comfortable in his first couple of appearances as other young players on the roster, like Darren Mattocks and Kekuta Manneh. We mocked his lead-footed first touch, and wondered if he could ever be anything more than a likable, hard-working depth forward. Only time will tell how Erik Hurtado will fare throughout the rest of his soccer career, but for right now, he's made us look awful silly. Well, actually, he made a couple of Seattle Sounders look pretty damn silly.

There's no doubt it's the prettiest goal of Erik Hurtado's young career, and it's also his third goal in his last three matches. It will be an obvious candidate for MLS goal of the week, and it just looks like the confidence of the young American has never been higher.

He's got more control with the ball, he sees the play developing now, and he has an idea of what he wants to do when he touches the ball, something that was lacking before when he would run around aimlessly and lose possession. With yet another young forward contributing, the 'Caps now have an embarrassment of riches at the position, and we still have yet to see what Omar Salgado can do now that he's healthy.

Anyways, the goal. Is it the best one you've seen from the Whitecaps so far this season? Remember, the club already has an MLS Goal of the Week' winner in the fold, so the competition is definitely stiff. Remember that first week strike from Sebastian Fernandez?

Or how about that majestic, curling strike from Hurtado two weeks ago?

So, in your opinion, who has the best goal of the year so far for the Whitecaps? They've scored 18 of them this season, so take your pick.
