VANCOUVER, BC - The Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced this morning that they have signed right back Ethen Sampson to an MLS contract.  The 20-year-old South African is expected to be a backup to the newly signed Steven Beitashour and may see some playing time if Beitashour is called up for international duty with Iran.

Sampson joined the Whitecaps early in 2013 on a USL PDL contract after playing for four years with ASD Cape Town.

As per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
