The final former Carolina RailHawk has bid farewell to the Vancouver Whitecaps, as midfielder Matt Watson has been dealt to the Chicago Fire for an international roster spot.
It's a shame really; Watson was a hard-working player, a very solid depth option off the bench. However, given all the recent acquisitions to the Whitecaps midfield, it became increasingly clear that Matty wasn't going to get much, if any playing time at all.
Still, Watson leaves as arguably the most valuable RailHawk to grace the club, a rare correct move by former manager Martin Rennie.
It sucks to see Watson go, but here's hoping he gets a real shot with the Chicago Fire and gets some playing time. I'd like to see him play well - just not against his now former club.
