The Vancouver Whitecaps have ended their off-season with a bang, picking up Pedro Morales from Spanish side Malaga CF. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but earlier reports had the price tag at €350,000.
Morales is 28 years old, has represented Chile on the national stage, and has the potential to be a quality player for the Whitecaps. Of course, the other side of the coin is that Morales struggled mightily during his time with Malaga, and now has to adapt to an entirely new league. While he's certainly not a mid-season acquisition, I sure would've like to have seen Morales get a bit more time to get familiar with the team, and the city. On the flip side, the season has already started in Spain, so fatigue or rust really shouldn't be an issue.
Marc Weber of The Province reported earlier that Morales will be here before the March 8th season opener against the Red Bulls, which means 'Caps fans might not have to wait too long to see their prized acquisition.
What do you guys think? Was this the right move for the 'Caps to make?
