As reported earlier this week, the Vancouver Whitecaps have officially signed former Chicago Fire goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi to a contract.  As per league and club policy terms and length of the deal were not disclosed.

The 25-year-old Italian started his senior career with Inter Milan in 2008, and was subsequently loaned to a series of Italian third and fourth division clubs before he joined the Fire in 2012.  Tornaghi made nine appearances for Chicago before he was waived after the end of the 2013 MLS regular season.

In September 2013 Tornaghi received his US Permanent Resident Status, which allows him to be classified as a domestic player under MLS rules.
