What to do with Omar Salgado? (Part II)

Omar Salgado Trialed with Tigres UANL

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Last week I wrote a piece asking the question "What to do with Omar Salgado?". There were many suggestions, but the consensus was that his time with the Vancouver Whitecaps was done. Of course, the day I write that piece Salgado is involved in a 'dangerous' tackle from behind against residency product Mitch Piraux, followed by an argument with assistant coach Martyn Pert. Since that altercation Omar has been barred from practice.

It would appear that the Whitecaps have elected not to wait until the off-season to address the 'Salgado Issue'. Today the Whitecaps announced that Omar Salgado has flown to Mexico to complete a 12-day trial with La Liga MX Tigres UANL. It appears as if it is now only a matter of time before Salgado is sold, or released.

With the season coming to a close in the upcoming weeks, the process of rebuilding the strikers for the Whitecaps has begun. I now turn to the readers and pose the question: What is next? What are the necessary steps required to reduce the likelihood of the goal drought that has plagued the team during the second half, occurring next year?
