As Camilo Gate drags on for yet another day Vancouver radio station News 1130 is reporting this morning that Vancouver Whitecaps club president Bobby Lenarduzzi will try and make contact with AWOL striker Camilo Sanvezzo today in effort to bring this embarrassing episode to a conclusion:

News 1130 is also reporting the contract talks with the popular (and out-of-contract) Jay DeMerit have been put on hold until the situation with Camilo is resolved:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Lenarduzzi also says contract talks with captain Jay DeMerit are on hold because of Camilo situation.</p>— News1130 Sports (@News1130Sports) <a href="https://twitter.com/News1130Sports/statuses/420954667250507777">January 8, 2014</a></blockquote>

While it must be obvious that the Camilo situation must be resolved one way or another ASAP it is quite concerning to learn that the talks with DeMerit have been put on the side burner for the time being. Equally concerning is that with the preseason only weeks away the club still needs to fill several key positions on the pitch that have been left vacant by players that are no longer with the club.
The Whitecaps management certainly has their work cut out for them over the next couple of weeks, so sit back and buckle up - we could be in for one helluva a ride.
