Defender Andy O'Brien has resumed full training this morning
USA TODAY Sports

Reports from this morning's training session informed us that defenders Jay DeMerit and Andy O'Brien have resumed full training with the Whitecaps' first team. DeMerit has been recovering from an injury to his Achilles tendon suffered in the season opener while O'Brien has not played since injuring his hamstring in Seattle on June 8th. Brad Rusin, who left Saturday's game in Portland on crutches, was not training. Club President Bob Lenarduzzi said this morning that they will not know the extent of Rusin's injury until the swelling subsides, but early indications are that the injury is "not good". Striker Kenny Miller was back in full training again this morning after picking up a minor injury against the Philadelphia Union last week and finally Darren Mattocks, who recently underwent minor knee surgery, was also reported to be training "lightly". Trialist Damian Batt was not present at this morning's training session as his trial period with the club has ended. No announcement has been made by the club on whether Batt will be offered a contract, but manager Martin Rennie said a decision may be made later this week.

*UPDATE Aug. 7th, 2013* - Brad Rusin tore two ligaments and strained 3 more in his right ankle last Saturday night. No time frame has been given for recovery. Rusin also posted some pictures of his extremely swollen ankle to his Twitter account. On behalf of the 86Forever crew we wish Brad a quick and speedy recovery.
