Rochat Leaving D.C. United

Just over a month after acquiring defender Alain Rochat from the Whitecaps D.C. United has sold him to Swiss club BSC Young Boys for a reported fee of $500,000. Rochat played for Young Boys from 2002-05. Since Rochat was traded to United he has made only five appearances at left back. The Rochat trade was met with much criticism from Whitecaps fans who were unhappy that a popular and talented player was traded away for a pair of future draft picks. Due to Rochat's short stay in D.C. this apparently voids the terms of the 2016 conditional draft pick, but Vancouver is still entitled to the 2015 second round pick that was part of the original deal.
