KANSAS CITY, MO - top Italian outfit AS Roma defeated the MLS All-Stars by a score of 3 - 1 in front of a packed house at Sporting Park. Roma took the lead through Kevin Strootman in the 5th minute. A second goal was called back minutes later for offside and the chances kept coming for the Italians. Roma scored twice more through Florenzi (47') and Tallo (68'). The MLS All-Stars scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute when LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez headed home a brilliantly struck free kick by Vancouver Whitecaps' striker Camilo Sanvezzo. Whitecaps supporters will no doubt be a little frustrated that despite setting up the goal Camilo played the majority of the match (replacing an injured Graham Zusi in the 24th minutes) ahead of a massive Cascadia Cup match against the Timbers in Portland this Saturday.
MLS league action resumes this weekend with 9 matches scheduled on Saturday and Sunday.
