SEATTLE, WA - After the disappointing 1-0 loss to Martinique on Sunday Canada faced Mexico at CenturyLink Field in Seattle earlier this evening. The Mexicans also came into the game looking for their first win after falling 2-1 to Panama in their Gold Cup opening match. Despite a better performance than they had against Martinique Canada still fell to Mexico 2-0. The improved performance from the Canadians was nearly rewarded with a goal a few minutes before full time when Marcel de Jong's free kick hit the cross bar and stayed out. Mexico scored through a Jiminez header from a free kick in the forty-first minute and from a dubiously awarded penalty which was converted by Marco Fabian in the fifty-sixth minute. Canada's final group match is this Sunday, July 14th versus Group A leaders Panama in Denver.
Final Score: Canada 0 - Mexico 2
Raul Jiminez 41'
Marco Fabian 56' (pen)
