Whitecaps, Timbers Formalize Nanchoff Move

Continuing their recent moves to build for the future, the Vancouver Whitecaps made a minor move yesterday, in a deal negotiated with the Portland Timbers.

The Caps receive what the Vancouver Whitecaps are reporting as "...Portland Timbers’ natural fourth-round selection in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft," in exchange for the rights to former Whitecaps midfielder Michael Nanchoff.

Vancouver released Nanchoff in early December last year, but had retained his rights. The 24-year-old has been training with the Timbers for the past three weeks, and the deal formalizes the end of Nanchoff's relatively brief tenure in Vancouver.

Selected 8th overall in the 2011 SuperDraft, the former Generation Adidas player struggled to find minutes in the Whitecaps' organization, earning just two starts, and fewer than 300 minutes in his two-year stay in Vancouver.
