After the most impressive loss in Whitecaps history, the Whitecaps travel east to take on a winless-in-6 Columbus Crew side. This is one of the biggest Caps opportunity's for a Whitecaps road win this early in the season.
In order to stop the Crew, the Caps will have to stop Federico Higuain. Possibly one of the best players in the league, Higuain is the brother of Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli in the Serie A. The Crew have been lacking up front, with neither Dominic Oduro or Jairo Arrieta starting this season well. The Crew are known for their midfield possesion as well, anchored by youngster Will Trapp. Although this may be overstepping a bit, Will Trapp and Kekuta Manneh would be candidates for the number 1 spot in this years 24 under 24. A good performance against their young rival could spur them onto that coveted prize. Now to my Predicted Staring 11.
Ousted, Harvey, O'Brien, Demerit, Beitashour, Laba, Koffie, Manneh, Morales, Fernandez, Salgado
Predicted Score: 2-1 for the Caps
Higuain PK (23), Morales (54), Manneh (76)
Federico Higuain converts from the spot after Gershon Koffie makes a tough tackle on Bernard Anor just inside the box. However, Pedro Morales levels the game after Salgado holds the ball up well and passes to a streaking Kekuta Manneh. The young Gambian plays a low cross into Pedro Morales who finishes into an open net. A Columbus red card opens up the match for the Caps, and Kekuta Manneh scores the eventiual winner after a beautiful Pedro Morales through ball.
Good Luck Caps!
