Whitecaps vs Earthquakes Prediction

Hard to believe it's been 40 years now since the Caps club opener, coincidentally against our weekend opponents, the San Jose Earthquakes. Both teams will be looking for three points.

San Jose and the Caps have had some entertaining fixtures and goals in the past, most memorably the 93rd minute winner from former Cap turned San Antonio player/mascot Eric Hassli (Sorry Eric, we all love and miss you). Another former Cap, Shea Salinas, has been enjoying his time in California ever since he's been there. Expect him to be dangerous with his pace and set piece delivery. Now, my Predicted Starting Line-Up:

Ousted, Beitashour, O'Brien, Demerit, Harvey, Laba, Koffie, Teibert, Morales, Miller, Mattocks (a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield)

Predicted Score:

3-1 for the Caps

Morales (23), Miller (52), Wondolowski (55), Manneh (90)

A 25 yard out free kick is curled in by our only Chilean in spectacular fashion, followed by several chances by both teams until halftime. A penalty drawn by Russel Teibert is converted by Kenny Miller. The Caps three points is threatened when Chris Wondolowski finishes Alan Gordon's headed cross, but Kekuta Manneh rounds the keeper late on to seal the win.

Good Luck Caps!
