The Vancouver Whitecaps look to continue their unbeaten season against the Colorado Rapids this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Caps have looked exceptionally strong this season, especially at there home fortress that is BC Place. The Rapids started the season with a bye week, followed by a road win against the Red Bulls and a very impressive home win against the Portland Timbers, thanks to a penalties from Vicente Sánchez and Deshorn Brown.
Speaking of penalties, Colorado amazingly hasn't scored a goal from open play this year (as long as you include Deshorn Brown's PK attempt). Although this stat may highlight the Rapids offensive troubles, don't underestimate the front three of Gabriel Torres, Vicente Sánchez and Deshorn Brown. Whitecaps fans will remember Brown and Torres for singlehandedly crushing our playoff dreams last season. As for Sánchez, he is the Rapids leading scorer at this point in time and is deadly with his pace, dribbling and skills. It should be noted all four of his goals have been penalties.
Most recently, the Colorado Rapids were defeated at home to Sporting Kansas City, after a 90th minute smash from striker Dom Dwyer. Vicente Sánchez converted two penalties, and Grahm Zusi and Benny Feilharbor scored for SKC.
Carl Robinson and Co will look to take revenge for last season's loss, expect Robbo now gets to be at the helm of the coaching staff. Now, my Predicted Starting Lineup:
Ousted, Harvey, O'Brien, Demerit, Beitashor, Laba, Teibert, Reo-C, Morales, Miller, Mattocks
Prediced Score: 2-0 for the Whitecaps
Mattocks (72), Mattocks (77)
A brace for the Jamaican keeps the Caps on form. His first, a tidy finsih from a briliant Morales long ball. His second, a neat piece of skill gives him space to fire home a blast from outside the box into the short-side top corner.
Good Luck Caps!
