As we discussed on this week's From the Backline podcast the Vancouver Whitecaps have reportedly added Daniel Stenz to Carl Robinson's technical staff from German 2 Bundesliga club FC Union Berlin. The Whitecaps have not made any official announcement that Stenz has joined the club, but we did think it was interesting that Union Berlin has released an official statement reporting that Stenz has left to join the Caps. Please find below the translation of the statement from the FC Union Berlin website:
Match Analysis: Daniel Stenz Moves to Vancouver Whitecaps
FC Union Berlin is re-structuring their match analysis and scouting department. Head of the unit, Daniel Stenz, joins the Vancouver Whitecaps of North America's Major League Soccer effective immediately. In the interim, his responsibilities will be assumed by staff within the department.
"We thank Daniel Stenz very much for the work he's done here, and wish him much success with his new responsibilities. In both areas, we have very good employees, and an experienced colleague in Ross Simpson returns, guaranteeing that the work will continue seamlessly," said Nico Schäfer, business analyst and head of the Professional Players unit.

So, take it for what it's worth, but if Stenz does show up in Vancouver it won't really be much of a surprise considering the original article has already been circulating on social media for the past few days. It is interesting, however, that Carl Robinson appears to be adding to and strengthening his technical staff as he continues to restructure the club since being named manager this past December.
