Asian players bring great marketability to the multicultural hub that is vancouver.the past few years have shown many success stories from top clubs of Europe as they sign players from the relatively untapped leagues of asia. in saying "asia" i refer to korea and japan, the joint hosts of the 2002 world cup.One player for example is Lee Chung Yong who has been a consistent and impressive player for Bolton Wanderers since he joined the club in 2009 at the tender age of 20.Other notables from South Korea include Park Chu Young (Arsenal), Ji Dong Won (Sunderland) Ki Sung Yueng, (Celtic), and the teenage talent Son Heung Min (Hamburger SV).Of course it would be a crime to talk about Korean football and not mention Park Ji Sung. Japan's J.League Division 1 is one of the most successful leagues in Asian club football and the only league given top class 'A' ranking by the AFC.Japan (ranked by FIFA as 19 in the world) boasts the most european talent in Asia including the notable Shinji Okazaki (Stuttgart), Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund), Keisuke Honda (CSKA Moscow), and Yuto Nagatomo (Internazionale).Young talent and Veteran campaigners from these two Countries would be smart signings, whether they are in the form of DP's, loans, youth signings such as bringing these players into your academy. The singing of young foreign players by MLS for the superdraft looks like a smart move for the league longterm. Kohei Yamada from Thespa Kustsu of J.League Div 2 looks like he might be the Joao Plata of this years draft. If Korean legend Young Pyo Lee proves to be a great success for the club it would be logical to follow up with some similar signings. The One which jumps to my mind and who i think would be the perfect fit is Shunsuke Nakamura. He would fit perfectly in the centre of the pitch for the Whitecaps, and has already proven that he can excel in a physical league as his time in the Scottish Premier league is testament to.Shunsuke amazing free kick taking abilites would bring an extra bit of class to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The publicity he would bring and his marketability are also nice additions.
