Be Careful What You Wish For
I'm sure that you all noticed that there was no poll last week, this was partly due to my trip to some of the the most glamorous areas of England (Sheffield, Stoke, Slough) but mostly due to the fact that the only places that seem to provide free wi-fi connections in the UK are pubs. This admittedly makes for a great time, but drastically reduces the quality of any writing that does eventually get completed.
Anyway, enough of my jet setting lifestyle because I'm sure that you are all itching to click a mouse to answer this weeks question.
Not so fast!!
There is the previous poll still to be considered. A poll that caused shock waves throughout Canada when it appeared as the exclusive lead story on the front page of the Globe and Mail (and when I say "exclusive lead story on the front page of the Globe and Mail" I mean that it was briefly mentioned in a small paragraph in an article about TFC and the Whitecaps).
In the end Peter Beardsley came out as the former Whitecap that most fans would like to see in the current team with Kevin Hector and Alan Ball both making creditable showings.
On then to this weeks question then which, in honour of my Grand Tour of Europe, asks "Which aspect of European soccer would you least like to see in MLS?" . I'm sure that we all look with some envy at the way that soccer is revered in other parts of the world, and sometimes wonder why we can't have just a little bit of that magic rub off on little old MLS.
But anybody who has meticulously studied even the most basic of children's fairy tales will know that getting what you wish for frequently ends up with you either being suicidally unhappy or living in a world where animals make condescending remarks about your food choices, and none of us wants that.

Parity
Maybe the MLS is doing something right. Keeping all the teams on a mostly level pitch seem to have it appeals, even if it comes at the cost of some superstar prestige.

Lack of parity is a very good answer, but I voted “Celebrity Culture” because lack of parity annoys me but breathless obsession over WAGs really pisses me off.

…but Schweinsteiger’s girl is so pretty! Particularly when she stands next to him, the contrast really work in her favor.

I certainly understand the issue with lack of parity, but I voted Maverick Owners. The teams should be for the city, not the plaything of a very rich person. When Chelsea wins, do you think Mr. Abramovich thinks “There you go, plebes.” Of course not. He thinks “I will celebrate this on my most awesome ”http://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/details/76" >yacht. Perhaps I will reanimate, rejuvinate, and buy Pele next year. He’s not dead? Hmmm. Have him killed, then reanimate him."
Also, I think a big part of the lack of parity in the table reflects a lack of parity in owners.
I went for maverick owners. Just because they can do so much damage and cause so much bad feeling.

Maverick Owners
Hands down. It wasn’t even close. Say what you want about Manchester United and it’s supporters but trust me having a bad ownership situation puts a strain on the whole club and the supporters.

Going to repeat a joke from Twitter: they called the site popular! I should get them to print a retraction.
